Her name is Júlia Maria Campistany Albareda, that is why she shortened the company name to La Campistany.
Júlia Campistany is originally from a small town outside Barcelona, Alella, and currently based in the Netherlands, where she graduated from Codarts Circus Arts.
Currently LaCampistany is working on her two year Nieuwe Maker Trajectory together with Festival Circolo and Werkplaats Dommelhof, funded by the Fonds Podium Kunsten. In October 2025, Cirquemétrage, the first performance of the Nieuwe Maker trajectory has premièred.

She started training next to her Engineering studies and through the years this passion for moving and performing became an urge.
La Campistany got caught up by the balance between movement, music and theater and decided to stop her previous profession to let this passion become her new life. Codarts Circus Arts is the place where she developed her own style and Julia went deeper into trapeze technique and artistic research.
In the Netherlands, Julia had the pleasure to be directed by Francesco Sgrò, Roberto Magro, Alba Sarraute, Arthur Rosenfeld, got masterclasses by Kim-Jomi Fisher, Malgorzhata Haduch, Elodie Doñaque, and worked with Meyer-Chaffaud and Circus Ronaldo.
Júlia worked with the dance company Meyer-Chaffaud during her last year in school and toured the year after. Also, during the winter of 2018-2019 she took part in the creation Het Wonderlijke Kerst by Circus Ronaldo. In both cases she was engaged in the creation process not only as a performer but also in the artistic proposal.
Throughout the year 2018 and 2019, LaCampistany created her first performance It Happens..
It Happens is a 40 ‘ piece which research initiated as her graduation act for Codarts Circus Arts. In this project, Júlia works with Zè Malandro, composer of the current music of the piece and performer on stage. This is the first project that she directed and led, both artistically and administratively.
They have been touring since 2019 and the whole experience has been a learning process. This project received trust and help from different parties such as Circunstruction and Buro Piket.
Since 2021, Júlia created her second own creation PELUDA.
In 2023, it is one of the shortlisted projects from Circus Next and premières in Festival Circolo and Theater op de Markt.

Next to It Happens, Júlia takes part in the company Rita and Rita, currently working on their first piece Rita. With this project they explore the discipline of mouth balance (an old Chinese discipline) and the dance trapeze together with Annika Hemmerling. Michael Zandl is the outside eye of the piece. This project is supported by Zirkus On in Germany.
In the past three years, Júlia has been working as a guest teacher in Codarts Circus Arts. She works as a guest teacher for the composition lesson, where she accompanies students in the research for their own work and gives creation workshops. Since 2021, Júlia works as a direction assistant in the group creations and in 2024 and 2025, she has directed the C1 group show.
